5,000 police guard President's game

THOUSANDS of police and military personnel protected Donald Trump as he played golf yesterday.

The President's visit to Scotland teed off many locals who declared he was “not welcome here”.

The huge security operation at his luxury Trump Turnberry resort in South Ayrshire included a no-fly zone, a ground exclusion zone stretching for miles around, road closures, security fencing, sniffer dogs, snipers, and up to 5,000 police officers.

It meant Trump, 79, saw no protesters as he hit balls on the famous course he bought in 2014. Wearing a USA baseball cap and surrounded by minders, he travelled in a 15-strong motorcade of golf buggies.

Trump played his round with his son Eric, as well as US Ambassador Warren Stephens and his son.

The President waved to journalists at one point, with hits including Billy Joel's Uptown Girl and Elaine Paige's rendition of Memory from the musical Cats heard playing from his entourage.

And when asked about links to disgraced paedo-phile Jeffrey Epstein, the Simon and Garfunkel hit Bridge Over Troubled Water could be heard.

Just one demonstrator turned up - and claimed everyone else had been deterred by the massive security operation.
