NEW YEAR REVOLUTION

DECEMBER CHILL: Jack Clarke scores for Ipswich BEATEN AGAIN: Coventry's Miguel Angel Brau and Matt Grimes on Monday night

THE rest of the Championship are probably thinking that Coventry City are having a bit of a wobble.

Having raced into an exceptional lead after racking up 11 wins from 12 games heading into December, the Sky Blues' staying power has been tested in a challenging run through Christmas.

Frank Lampard’s thin squad has suffered from injuries, illness and suspension.

Two home wins and two draws on the road were book-ended by defeats from a recovering Ipswich Town whose upward momentum has taken them to within eight points of the leaders, who they beat 2-0 on Monday.

"It's unusual and it hurts because we win a lot of games here," said Lampard, reflecting on his side's first loss of the season on home soil, and only the third league defeat at the stadium under his 13-month watch.
