CHRIS DAVIES has put Watford and the rest of the Championship on notice, warning that Birmingham are now a “real contender” in this league after finally hitting their stride.

Blues were one of the preseason tips for promotion after romping to the League One title last season with more than 100 points.

And after a slow start to life back in the Championship, Davies’ side have climbed the table after winning three of their last five league games, scoring four goals in each of those triumphs - all at home.
