Russia Strikes Ukraine With 620 Drones And Missiles

Russia's overnight air blitz on 12 July marked one of the largest single-wave attacks of the war, with Ukrainian radars tracking 597 Iranian-designed Shahed drones and 26 cruise missiles—more than 620 air-launched weapons in all—fired from multiple directions toward targets that stretched from the eastern front lines of Kharkiv and Sumy to the western border regions of Lviv, Lutsk and Chernivtsi.

Although Ukrainian air-defence crews destroyed most of the incoming weapons—319 Shaheds and twenty-five missiles, according to the Air Force—those that slipped through killed at least four civilians, wounded more than twenty and ignited dozens of fires, shattering a rare midsummer calm across the country's west.
