Chamber of Spain and ISCC meet FICCI and CII

The Chamber of Spain (Cámara de España, Madrid) along with Indo Spanish Chamber of Commerce (ISCC) met with the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) in New Delhi on Wednesday to foster economic development and bilateral trade between Spain and India.

The meeting included Ms. Inmaculada Riera i Reñé, Director General, Chamber of Spain, Mr. Oscar Esteban, President ISCC, Ms. Gayatri G Prasad, Director International Affairs, FICCI together with other representatives from FICCI and Ms. Surabhi Arora, Market Analyst, Economic and Commercial Office of Spain in New Delhi. During Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Spain in 2017, he put forward a significant proposal to the then-Spanish Prime Minister, Mariano Rajoy, suggesting the creation of a CEOs Forum. This initiative was designed to serve as a strategic platform to enhance and deepen economic and business relations between Spain and India. The CEOs Forum represents a distinguished publicprivate partnership, intended to bring together leading executives from prominent corporations in both the countries. EXTERMINATE MOSQUITOES TO ERADICATE EIGHT DEADLY DISEASES
Till now, Iceland, with a harsh, unique climate and geographical isolation, was the only country in the world that was completely free of mosquitoes. Three mosquitoes were found in the Kjos valley in October 2025. Scientists blamed rising temperatures due to climate change and increased travel for these arrivals. Mosquitoes are vectors for deadly diseases like malaria, dengue, chikungunya, Japanese encephalitis, Zika, yellow fever, West Nile virus fever, and filariasis. In 2023, there were an estimated 263 million malaria cases and 597,000 deaths globally. World Malaria Day on 25 April and National Dengue Day on May 16th in India highlight the need for public education, continued investment, and sustained political commitment for prevention and control measures, especially before the monsoon season. ‘Chikungunya' means \"to become contorted,\" (due to severe joint pains) in the Kimakonde language in Tanzania and Mozambique.
