Andrew’s arrest, outcome of true democracy

The arrest and subsequent release of King Charles’ brother, Andrew Mountbatten Windsor may have dominated headlines throughout the world while underlining his connections with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

However, it has also demonstrated that true democracy exists in the United Kingdom.There are scores of countries which claim to have democratically elected governments, but most of them cannot provide examples where in the case of important persons, the law is allowed to take its own course without being influenced in some way or the other. Britain and some of its European neighbours allow the principles which are essential for any working democracy tobe upheld in any kind of situations or circumstances.

‘The kind of freedom that exists in Great Britain and nations such as France and Germany, is difficult to replicate anywhere else including the United States. Andrew's arrest isan example that there is no one who isabove the law. Being the King’s brother and son of the former Monarch did not come in the way of legal proceedings being initiated against him in the wake ofallegations of misconduct while holding a public office. There is every possibility that Andrew may walk free once the investigations are over and the charges against him do not get established in a court of law. But by arresting him on his 66th birthday, the government of that country has shown to the world that anyone who is accused of breaking the law would not be spared.
