We thank Mr Goh Eng Chai for his feedback ("Toilets should have ventilation fans to prevent mould", Jan 3).
Mould formation is primarily caused by insufficient ventilation and high humidity. For this reason, the bathrooms in HDB flats are designed to provide natural ventilation in accordance with prevailing Building Codes. We do not provide exhaust fans in the bathrooms, as they are less energy-efficient. Residents would also have to bear the long-term cost of mainta
