As relentless rainfall battered the hills of North Bengal, triggering landslides, flooding, and multiple deaths, political leaders across party lines on Sunday and Monday struck a rare note of unity - urging all sides to set aside politics and focus on relief and rescue operations in the devastated region.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah expressed deep condolences over the loss of lives in Darjeeling due to the incessant downpour and assured all possible assistance from the Centre. “Teams of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) have reached the affected areas, while additional teams are on standby,” Shah said in a post on X.
