India's educational ecosystem is seeing a paradigm shift with AI intervention and increased alignment of educational institutes with NEP (National Education Policy) 2020.
India Skills report 2025 states that employability among Indian graduates has improved by 17 per cent, rising from 33 per cent to over 50 per cent, reflecting the shift towards skill-centric education. This growth highlights India's dedication to developing a future-ready workforce and is impacting higher education and hiring ecosystems alike.
Skills students need to thrive in 2025 and beyond
To remain competitive in this ever-changing landscape, it is vital for learners to cultivate a blend of technical, interpersonal, and domain-specific skills. Artificial intelligence (AI) is revolutionizing industries from healthcare to manufacturing. This makes AI fluency imperative for excelling in the future. In this day and age, digital literacy extends beyond basic computer skills. It encompasses the ability to understand, use, and oversee AI-driven tools effectively. Proficiency in AI, prompt engineering, data skills, and machine learning will provide learners with a competitive edge. It will not only enable them to automate tasks but also develop intelligent solutions.
While technology continues to dominate workplaces, the human touch remains irreplaceable. Emotional intelligence (EQ) encompasses self-awareness, empathy, and interpersonal skills, which are critical for fostering strong relationships and navigating workplace dynamics.
As per a study conducted, 92 per cent of hiring managers prioritize soft skills, with EQ ranking among the top. In an increasingly automated world, EQ enables individuals to communicate effectively, resolve conflicts, and adapt to diverse teams owing to their human experiences.
