The West Bengal Chief Electoral Officer's (CEO) office on Wednesday issued a stern directive to booth-level officers (BLOs), warning that those who have not yet collected their appointment letters must do so by 12 noon on Thursday, failing which they will face suspension.
Officials said the instruction aims to expedite the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process currently underway across the state. According to figures shared by the CEO’s office, the total number of electors in West Bengal as of 28 October 2025 stands at 7,66,37,529, with each polling station covering an average of 950 voters, or approximately 200 to 300 families.
