Assaulted promoter expresses fear for safety of family
The Statesman
|December 23, 2024
Real estate promoter Kishor Halder, who had allegedly been assaulted by a Trinamul Congress leader, on Saturday expressed fears for his family's safety and said he was ready to release more incriminating video and audio clips relating to the Trinamul councillor Samaresh Chakraborty and other party leaders in the Baguihati area.
Police are yet to arrest Mr Chakraborty, councillor of Ward 9 under the Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation (BMC) area, even seven days after allegations of assault and extortion of several lakhs of rupees were lodged with the local police station against the councillor by Mr Halder.
The Baguihati police station had issued a summons to Mr Chakraborty in connection with the allegations. The notice was pasted on the door of his house on Tuesday, asking him to appear at the police station within 24 hours.
