Even as top BSF and BGB officials jointly witnessed the Retreat Ceremony at the Zero Point of the Land and Customs Station (LCS) in Fulbari near Siliguri, tensions are brewing near the Teen Bigha Corridor in Cooch Behar today.
The objective of the Retreat Ceremony, attended by Inspector General of the Border Security Force (BSF) Soorya Kant Sharma and Additional Director General of the Bangladesh Border Guard (BGB) North West Region, Rangpur, Brigadier General S.M. Zahidur Rahman (in photo), was to strengthen and sustain the longstanding bond of friendship between the two nations.
On the other hand, unrest continues on the India-Bangladesh border, stemming from makeshift fencing erected by Indian villagers near the zero line, intended to protect standing crops from cattle and human intrusion from the Bangladesh side near the enclaves of Dahagram and Angarpota.
