Kerala Assembly Passes Elderly Commission Bill to Ensure Welfare and Rights of Elderly

In a landmark move, the Kerala Assembly unanimously passed the Kerala State Elderly Commission Bill 2025, meant to protect the rights of the elderly.
With this, the state will establish India's first elderly commission to ensure the welfare, protection, and rehabilitation of the elderly (those above 60 years of age) and to enhance their productivity, ability to generate original and innovative ideas or solutions, and to utilize them for the society.
State Higher Education Minister R Bindu said with the passing of the Bill, the dream put forward by the LDF government as regards the elderly people has become a reality.
