Former title holders fight back from two-goal deficit to hold reigning champions to exciting 2-2 draw

Mumbai City FC fought back from a two-goal deficit to earn a scintillating 2-2 against reigning champions Mohun Bagan Super Giant to move within striking distance of a playoff spot in the ongoing edition of the Indian Super League (ISL) at the Mumbai Football Arena on Saturday evening.

The Islanders moved to 33 points from 22 games as a consequence of this comeback, and are now one point away from qualifying for the playoffs.

There were a spate of chances created in the opening half hour by the Mariners, with players from Jamie Maclaren to Deepak Tangri taking the onus in the final third to discover openings past the Mumbai City FC defence.

The Islanders whisked past a couple of close calls, before Maclaren provided another testament of his finishing instinct with a precise and powerful finish with his right foot into the bottom left corner from the centre of the box.

The forward lapped upon a loose ball and dispatched it past a crowded home side defensive third to bag the breakthrough in the 32nd minute.
