Demand for Kolkata-Sairang Express grows, occupancy 120 pc in a month

A month into the inaugural journey of Kolkata-Sairang Express, and the train has found popularity among travellers with around 120 per cent occupancy on several days in the first month of the commencement of commercial services.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had inaugurated the Sairang-Bairabi rail Line on 13 September flagging off trains linking Aizawl to Kolkata directly. The commercial services of the Kolkata-Sairang Express were started from 16 September. The running of trains in this part of the country was an important event for the people of the land of hills as it was the first time after Independence when the capital city of Mizoram was linked with railway connectivity.
