BJP BLA allegedly thrashed while distributing forms in Durgapur

A booth level assistant (BLA) for the BJP was assaulted yesterday afternoon, allegedly by Trinamul Congress supporters when he refused to leave the area assigned to him while accompanying the booth level officer (BLO) in carrying out enumeration work.

The injured BLA had to be admitted to a hospital in the township last evening.

Sukumar Singh, the BLA (2) assigned by the BJP for the Chittaranjan Das locality in the A-Zone area of Durgapur Steel Township, was accosted while distributing enumeration forms in the locality along with the BLO. Singh said: "The concerned BLO had asked me to join him for distribution of forms and during the work, I was suddenly attacked unprovoked by the Trinamul Congress members."
