Congress leader Manickam Tagore on Wednesday issued a sharp rebuttal to Defence Minister Rajnath Singh's recent assertion that Jawaharlal Nehru had intended to use public funds to rebuild the Babri Masjid and that Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel opposed this move.
Tagore dismissed these claims as "lies" unsupported by any archival or documentary evidence.
In a pointed refutation on his official X handle, Tagore stated: "There is zero archival or documentary evidence to support this claim. Nehruji explicitly opposed using government money for religious places-including the reconstruction of temples.
