Unaccounted cash: CJI sets up panel to conduct probe

Cracking the whip, the Chief Justice of India, Justice Sanjiv Khanna on Saturday constituted a three-member committee to probe into the alleged recovery of a huge amount of unaccounted cash from the official residence of Delhi High Court judge Justice Yashwant Varma (photo) and asked the Chief Justice of Delhi High Court, Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyaya, not to assign any judicial work to Justice Verma.
The three-member committee that will probe into the allegations of the recovery of huge amount of unaccounted cash from the official residence of Justice Yashwant Verma on 14 March – the day of Holi – after a fire broke out at his residence in Delhi – includes the Chief Justice of the Punjab & Haryana High Court, Justice Sheel Nagu, the Chief Justice of the Himachal Pradesh High Court, Justice G.S. Sandhawalia and a judge of Karnataka High Court, Justice Ms. Anu Sivaraman.
