Trinamul Congress national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee told supporters that his election rally today had effectively turned into a “victory meeting”.
“Rest assured, we have secured more than 100 seats in the first phase of the election, and Mamata Banerjee’ formation of the new government is just a matter of time,” he said while addressing a rally at Magrahat in South 24-Parganas.
Trinamul Congress has fielded Sarmistha Purakaet in Magrahat East and Shamim Ahmed in Magrahat West.
“We are fighting to increase the lead of both candidates in the forthcoming election,” Mr Banerjee said, urging people to cast their votes early in the day.
