The Karnataka chapter of leading chambers, the CII, has thrown in its lot with the state government in driving the next phase of growth of Karnataka — that will see a focus on bridging technology, sustainability, and economic inclusion to build a globally competitive and future-ready state.

- STATESMAN NEWS SERVICE

With strong industry-government collaboration, Karnataka is poised to drive India's transformation into a developed economy, leveraging its innovation-driven MSME sector, high-tech manufacturing capabilities, and sustainable development policies.

The chamber and its members who congregated at its annual meet on Tuesday here deliberated on strategies to drive growth at an accelerated pace to contribute to the country's economic future through technology, innovation and sustainable practices.

The theme of CII's annual meeting was "Karnataka: Leading Technology & Knowledge Growth," and it brought together policymakers, industry leaders, academicians, and technopreneurs. On this occasion, Dr Selva Kumar, principal secretary, Commerce and Industry department, also launched CII CEL Microentrepreneurs Project - Karnataka Abhivruddigagi Belavanigeya Poshane (Nurturing Growth through Progress), aimed at strengthening the micro-entrepreneurial ecosystem.

The state government official said: "Karnataka has consistently been India's most preferred investment destination, evolving from being the 'State of Coffee' to the 'State of Technology. Our progressive policies, robust infrastructure, and dynamic talent pool have created an ecosystem that fosters innovation, entrepreneurship, and sustainable growth. This has led to Karnataka contributing significantly to India's GDP, exports and employment generation."

Shelved Knowledge

Independent India did not consciously ratify Macaulay's contempt; it did something less dramatic and more durable. It allowed the colonial syllabus to survive by inertia. Two centuries on, an Indian school-leaver can recite Newton's three laws and the Krebs cycle, but has rarely been asked, even in passing, to open the Aryabhatiya, the Caraka Samhita or the Arthasastra
