HC bars TN govt from naming govt schemes after living individuals

No order has been passed against the launch, implementation, or operation of any welfare scheme: Madras HC
The Dravidian naming spree of state-funded schemes after ideological icons as well as current and former chief ministers has met with judicial ire, with the Madras High Court on Friday restraining the Tamil Nadu government from using the names of any living personality in the nomenclature of new or re-branded state welfare schemes.
The First Bench of Chief Justice Manindra Mohan Shrivastava and Justice Sunder Mohan, in an interim order, also prohibited the display of portraits, pictures of former Chief Ministers or ideological icons as well as insignia/emblem/flag of the ruling DMK in the publicity materials for those government schemes.
