The Additional District Judge of Jagatsinghpur, Haraprasad Pattnaik, has convicted Excise Constable Manoj Parida to five years of rigorous imprisonment for assaulting a lady Excise Sub-Inspector on last Wednesday.
Sources said that Excise Sub-Inspector Jogamaya Mallick was residing in a rented house at Lalashai under the jurisdiction of Jagatsinghpur Police Station. Constable Manoj Parida used to visit her residence regularly to assist with household chores and supply essential commodities such as rations and vegetables from the local market.
