Koraput, widely known as a tribal-dominated district, has come alive with the celebration of the Chaitra festival. Various tribal communities across the district, including those in Koraput, Pattangi, and Lamtaput areas, have begun their annual festivities, which play a vital role in preserving their cultural heritage.

As part of the celebrations, the Bihan Utara festival is being observed in several villages, including Nuan Kerenga under Koraput block. This festival marks the dedication of traditional seeds such as paddy, ragi, and suan by tribal farmers to the village Goddess. These seeds, cultivated in the hills and stored in their homes, symbolize gratitude and the hope for a prosperous harvest.
