Cabinet Clears New City Project near Bhubaneswar with SJI, Singapore Support

The State Cabinet on Wednesday approved a series of key proposals including a New City Development project near Bhubaneswar and a politically significant revision of financial powers of panchayat officers.

The Cabinet gave its in-principle nod to the "New City Development" in partnership with Surbana Jurong Infrastructure Pvt Ltd, Singapore.

It envisages a modern and inclusive urban hub over 800 acres across Gothapatna, Malipada and Daspur within the Bhubaneswar Development Plan Area (BDPA).

Envisioned as a multi-economic growth zone, the city will feature MICE facilities, plug-and-play innovation hubs, data centers, forest parks, plazas, and open spaces, while integrating smart and green infrastructure to enhance sustainability and resilience.

The Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) will serve as the nodal agency.

A significant milestone was earlier achieved with the signing of an MoU with Surbana Jurong Infrastructure Pvt. Ltd., Singapore, in January 2025, in the presence of the President of Singapore and the Odisha Chief Minister.
