Abhishek points out discrepancies in Bihar SIR

Coming down heavily on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) by the Election Commission of India (ECI), Abhishek Banerjee, national general secretary of Trinamul Congress said a dog has been included in the voters' list in Bihar at the cost of a genuine voter, just to help the BJP to win the election.

Talking to newsmen outside the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport, he said: "In Bihar, a dog has been included in the list of voters and his father's name is Kuttababu. This has been deliberately to help the BJP to win the election. A resident certificate has been issued in the name of a dog, which is important to get a Voters' ID card."

He said in the name of SIR, the Bengali-speaking workers have been attacked and harassed in the BJP-ruled states. Miss Mamata Banerjee has strongly condemned this farce. He maintained that no genuine voter should be dropped from the list. "While illegal migrants are entering the country it is the responsibility of the Centre.

If two people are entering Bengal illegally, then 200 people are entering through Tripura," he said.

Addressing newsmen at Trinamul Bhavan, Chandrima Bhatacharya, president Trinamul Mahila Commission said: "ECI is functioning as an agent of the BJP. In Bihar a voter card has been issued in the name of a dog whose father's name is Kutta Babu and Mother's name is Kutiya Debi. It is really shameful. The ECI is leaving no stone unturned to ensure the victory of the double engine government. They did this in Maharashtra and Delhi and helped the BJP to win the election," she maintained.

Abhishek said at the airport: "Listen to the speech (of our MPs) first. We made it clear on July 21 itself. At least in this session and in the future too, be it any kind of debate or Question Hour, we will deliver our speeches in Bengali. Operation Sindoor will be discussed in the House today. From our party, MP Sayoni Ghosh will speak in Bengali today. In different states ruled by the BJP, like Rajasthan, UP, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Odisha, Haryana, Bengalis are facing systematic, pre-planned torture. We are seeing more and more examples each day."
