Sharks pick Masuku at flyhalf for crunch clash with Boland

THE Sharks have filtered a few of their United Rugby Championship stars into their Currie Cup team to play Boland in Pietermaritzburg today night, notably flyhalf Siya Masuku.
Masuku is the old head who guided the Sharks to their Challenge Cup glory two years ago when they beat Gloucester in the final. He has been in a duel for the No 10 jersey with Springbok Jordan Hendrikse, and now he has a good opportunity to state his case.
The Sharks are warming up for a friendly in Durban next week against English giants Saracens.
Sharks Currie Cup coach JP Pietersen said expectations of Masuku should be tempered.
“Siya has not played for a while, and while we are pleased to have him back, we should not immediately expect fireworks from him,” Pietersen said.
What Pietersen does want is for his team to build on last week’s victory over Western Province in Durban — his team’s first win of the season.
