Residents brace for power outage

RESIDENTS in at least 11 suburbs in Pretoria North will experience a three-day power outage starting today owing to the City of Tshwane’s planned maintenance and efficiency tests at the Wolmer and K1 substations.
This comes as the city’s Energy and Electricity Department’s team of technicians embarks on planned audits and tests on the efficiency of both substations from June 17 to June 19.
This is nearly a month after an unknown group of attackers vandalised the Wolmer substation in Onderstepoort, plunging residents into darkness.
Municipal spokesperson Lindela Mashigo said that the maintenance was necessary for safety reasons and to identify areas for improvement in electricity supply management.
