Vale quality pushes players to new levels, admits Hall

GEORGE Hall is happy to fulfil any role he is handed at Port Vale and hopes to be in the starting XI at 17th-placed Wigan Athletic today.

- Clive Youlton

The pacy midfielder has been gradually eased into the action and played behind Devante Cole while starting for the first time in the 1-1 draw at AFC Wimbledon last time out.

The 21-year-old is enjoying playing regularly again after previously suffering injuries in his career, notably four hamstring problems in the 2023/24 season while with Birmingham City.

Having played in the Championship he doesn't feel any extra expectation on him at 15th-placed Vale and in the pre-match press conference, said: “It's just part of the game I've been through.

“I know when I get up to speed I know my quality and I know what I can do.

“League One has been alright. It's very physically demanding and I think you've got to be really good when you have got the ball on the ground and you have to make the most of your chances.”
