Vale fans are restless after another poor chapter in bad campaign
The Sentinel
|January 26, 2026
IT was another miserable afternoon for Port Vale as they lost 3-1 at home to Exeter City. MIKE BAGGALEY looks at the talking points...
It's got to get better than this. If not, these final three-and-a-half months of the season will be excruciating.
There's still time to get out of trouble, or at least make a fight of it, but the players didn’t look as though they really believed that once they went a goal down, either on Saturday or at Mansfield last week.
And the booing and chants of ‘you're not to wear the shirt’ might seem surprising as this was only Jon Brady's second league game. But it seemed directed at the players rather than the manager and, I would suspect, was frustration fuelled by the fact we seem to be repeating the relegation of two years ago.
The crowd are desperate for reasons to get behind the side - the turn out of more than 8,000 home fans showed that. It's not Brady's fault, he arrived less than three weeks ago. But Vale have to be better than this.
