RUNS: Ben Turnock hit a half-century for Sandyford in their weekend victory.

- Chris Travers

SANDYFORD banked their eighth NSSCL Division Two win of the season with victory at Elworth seconds to stay in second place at the halfway point.

Visitors Sandyford set sail towards another success by piling up 247-4 declared in the formative stages of the contest in Cheshire.

Rory Smith (26) and Mitchell Underwood (25) made early impacts, but it was a fourth-wicket stand of 151 between Ben Turnock and Kalhara Senarathne which propelled them to their formidable total.

Turnock top-scored with 87, which included 15 fours, with Senarathne’s unbeaten 82 featuring 13 boundaries and one six. James Yates took two wickets.

Matthew Yardley (40) and Mike Holt (20) made the biggest contributions to Elworth’s reply, but they were dismissed for 137.

Senarathne followed up his batting exploits with 3-40, while there were double strikes from Gareth Kinsey and Maz Akhtar.

Leaders Crewe continued their unblemished start as they wrapped up an 11th straight victory by seeing off the challenge of Moddershall & Oulton thirds.

The table-toppers, who are 32 points clear at the summit, never looked back once they had stuck 205-7 on the board.
