Salt knows Scots savour England clash

The Sentinel

February 14, 2026

CRICKET Phil Salt's assessment that an “opportunity to upset England is most Scotsmen's dream” was accepted by Scotland pair Michael Leask and Brad Wheal ahead of Saturday's T20 World Cup meeting.

The two nations have an extensive sporting rivalry, especially in football and rugby - where they will contest the Calcutta Cup on the same day that the cricketers play their group-stage encounter in Kolkata.

While the neighbours rarely meet in cricket, England batter Salt - born in Wales before spending much of his childhood in Barbados - nevertheless acknowledged Scotland will want to claim the bragging rights.
