Sainsbury's shoppers using it as 'rat run'

FAMILIES living on a residential street are calling for action to stop cars using it as a cut-through to a new supermarket.

Residents in Richard Woodcock Way, Alsager, have seen a 'marked increase' in the amount of traffic using their road to get to and from the new Sainsbury's on the outskirts of the town.

They say the road is supposed to be accessed by residents only but shoppers and commuters are using it as a shortcut. And they say many are driving too fast and fear someone could be seriously injured or killed.

Now they are calling for traffic calming measures and have approached their local councillors to ask for something to be done.
