A WOMAN is in a 'critical' condition in hospital after suffering serious burns in a tent fire.

The casualty had been airlifted to hospital as police, paramedics and firefighters were all called out to Black Horse Lane on New Year's Day.

Now officers - who shut off Marsh Street North during the height of the incident - have launched an appeal for witnesses as they investigate the blaze.

The alarm was raised at around midday with the air ambulance landing on a car park off Hope Street, below.
