FAMILIES hit by constant water problems have been awarded compensation.

Severn Trent has also launched a funding pot to support community groups in and around Brown Edge following a catalogue of problems.

Community leaders said the neighbourhood had experienced 11 'major incidents' between January 2024 and December last year. It came to a head last month where an outage affecting the ST6, ST7 and ST9 postcodes saw pressure drop in scores of homes with some having no water.

Such was the extent of the issues that Brown Edge's St Anne's Primary School had to send pupils home early. Ward councillor Joe Porter and Moorlands MP Karen Bradley again contacted Severn Trent bosses to demand action.
