The 38-year-old caused £20k of damage

- Sentinel Reporter

DRUGGED-UP Andrew Jordan caused £20,000 worth of damage after he climbed onto a roof and hurled roof tiles onto the road and pavement.

The 38-year-old climbed on to the conservatory roof at Household Discounts in Smallthorne but fell through into the shop.

He picked up a hammer and made his way onto the roof where he used the tool to rip up tiles and throw them on the road. A few tiles hit passing vehicles and traffic was stopped.

Police in riot gear arrived and the defendant was arrested. Now Jordan has been jailed for 12 months at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court.

Prosecutor Ella Worsley said the defendant was seen leaning inside the shop front of Heron Foods, Smallthorne. Miss Worsley said: “He appeared to be under the influence and was holding two golf clubs. He shouted something, crossed the road and climbed on the conservatory roof of Household Discounts. He fell through the roof causing damage to shelving.
