Nzonzi dares to dream on his Stoke return

The sporting director came over all florid when he said: “Steven's story with Stoke City is yet to be finished.”

After 10 years away the legendary midfielder is back where he belongs and intent on adding a final chapter, one that could be a bit longer and a bit more glorious than anyone had imagined.

The World Cup winner signed a one-year deal with the implicit assumption that it would be a final hurrah, a drawing of the final curtain common in American sports where loved stars return to their favourite team so that they can retire a Colt, 49er, Cub, Ranger or whatever.
