Nantwich sample winning feeling to get off the mark

The Dabbers had started their summer schedule with five straight league defeats, but managed to buck the trend in their weekend encounter.

The groundwork for their triumph was laid by Robert Howell, who batted through the innings to compile an unbeaten 85, which included eight fours.

Sam Williams followed his lead with a fine half-century to guide Nantwich to 206-4 from their 40 overs.

Williams' knock contained six boundaries and two sixes, while Muhammed Qasim claimed two of the wickets to fall.

Williams was then at the forefront of Nantwich's bowling attack on the resumption by scooping 5-24.

Alex Darlington also impressed with 3-16 as Meakins were skittled for just 78 in their chase.

Jared Healey (23), Jake Coxon (16) and Joshua Higgins (13) made the most headway with the bat for the visitors.

Leaders Wood Lane seconds now boast a perfect six out of six record after their win at Endon.

Hosts Endon took first use and managed to make their way to 127-8 from their allocation.

Daniel Bailey top-scored with 30, with support forthcoming from Lewis Hamnett (26) and Kai Smith (25).
