MP backing fight to prevent village field being fenced off

Families say it’s been used for generations
CONTROVERSIAL plans to fence off a much loved community field have sparked a public meeting in Madeley.
College Fields in Madeley has been used by residents for generations, however, new plans could spell the end.
Late last year, Madeley School informed Madeley Parish Council that, following an estate review by Staffordshire County Council and in line with the lease agreement, a continuous boundary fence would need to be installed.
This comes despite more than 30 years of continuous access by residents.
The move follows a 2022 application by the parish council to register the site as a village green.
