Motorists urged to make regular checks

MOTORISTS have been urged to check the safety of their vehicles under a campaign launched after 32 people died and hundreds were injured in crashes in Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent last year.
Charity Brake ran Road Safety Week with support from Staffordshire Safer Roads Partnership (SSRP). The theme was Safe Vehicles Save Lives.
SSRP aims to reduce road collisions through joint work with the Staffordshire Commissioner's Office, Staffordshire Police, Staffordshire Fire & Rescue Service, Stoke-on-Trent City Council, Staffordshire County Council and National Highways.
As well as those who died, 349 people suffered serious or life-threatening injuries in collisions.
