Moore takes plenty of Vale positives...
The Sentinel
|August 09, 2025
DARREN Moore was delighted with his Port Vale team's battling spirit as they came close to toppling Cardiff City at Vale Park.
The pulsating 0-0 draw was played in a terrific high tempo with Funso Ojo, Mitch Clark, Lorent Tolaj and Jesse Debrah in particular magnificent on the night while everyone played their part.
"I thought it was a strong performance, a solid performance, a performance that had a bit of aggression in it," said Moore.
"And probably the small part was that little bit of composure lacking in that final third in the positions we got into. But there were a lot of things to be encouraged with and a lot of things that we learned and a lot of things we have to continue to apply for this League One campaign."
It was a far superior performance from last Saturday as the players raised the energy in front of the TV cameras.
"We felt in the first half at Rotherham we let ourselves down really and the club down," added Moore.
"We thought the second half was better and more what we'd want from a Vale team.
