Developer seeks views on proposals for 650-properties

HUNDREDS of homes and a country park could be built on the edge of Newcastle under new plans from a developer.

Richborough is proposing 650 properties off Whitmore Road next to Newcastle Golf Club.

The site has been earmarked for 550 homes in Newcastle’s draft local plan, although this has yet to be approved.

Now Richborough is consulting the public on its proposals, and says the development will help address demand for housing while boosting the economy and provide public green space.

It is proposing two, three, four and five-bedroom homes, with 30 per cent of the properties classed as ‘affordable’.
