A MEMBER of a choral society has sung the praises of being part of a choir - for both her physical and mental health.

- Joseph Richards

Alto singer Judith Crosse says singing in a choir boosts confidence and improves social life.

Singing releases dopamine - the happy hormone - which improves mental health, whilst the physical act of singing enhances fitness levels.

Judith is also looking forward to Uttoxeter Choral Society's upcoming concert of Mozart's Vespers at the Priory Church of St Mary, Tutbury.

She said: “I didn’t know the Mozart Vespers before we started singing it, but I'm relishing the chance to sing this incredible piece of music.

“When the whole choir starts singing I feel like I'm carried along on a tidal wave of emotion.
