'It's insane in there'

A Sentinel reader was forced by a serious medical issue to attend A&E at at the Royal Stoke University Hospital on October 25. Here she explains what she encountered on a busy Saturday night as the overstretched NHS comes under increasing winter pressures...

I HAVE just returned from A&E, it's insane in there. My first issue was that the NHS said there were no ambulances so I had to get a taxi.

When I arrived, reception confirmed ambulances were outside stuck with patients on. At this point the app which shows wait times said wait was a three-and-a-half-hour maximum delay. Not too bad as it was a Saturday night after all.
