NSSCL Division Seven

AUDLEY thirds celebrated an NSSCL Division Seven victory for the first time this season as they narrowly beat Checkley 3rd XI.

Hosts Audley put themselves in a fine position to break their duck as they rattled up 229-6 from their 40 overs.

A quickfire 115 from M Hammersley, which contained 21 fours and one six, laid the foundations for their impressive tally.

And support was forthcoming from D Hammersley (43) and D Birkin (23), despite B Baxter taking 3-24.

Checkley were up for the fight after tea as they set about trying to overhaul their rivals.

N Hunt hit seven boundaries and one six in a top score of 72, with J Richardson adding 38 and Baxter contributing 32.

However, it wasn’t quite enough as C Thankachan scooped 4-12 to leave Checkley all out for a spirited 216.

Crewe seconds easily won on their visit to Hanford 2nd XI.

Piers Stockton and Pasha Mubeen both made 40, while Jonathan Minshull made 22 not out late in the day to steer the Cheshire visitors to 205-9 at the halfway point.
