Flash floods spark demand for fresh look at previous probe after water went in homes

FLASH flooding in Stoke-on-Trent has sparked calls for officials to investigate the response to a previous incident that left homes and businesses.
City councillor Andy Platt spoke out after heavy rain last month left London Road in West End flooded, Stoke town centre submerged, and saw cars left on the A34 in Trent Vale.
He wants the council to review what was done after two major incidents in London Road in 2020 saw water enter homes and businesses, sparking a 189-name petition to the council.
An investigation was carried out but, in the light of the latest flood, Councillor Platt wants to know what, if any, action was taken. He told the housing, regeneration and operations overview and scrutiny committee: "A fortnight ago extreme flooding was a serious issue around this city.
