Councillors unhappy with collection point

- Sentinel Reporter

A DECISION on final plans for a 138-home estate has been deferred because some new occupants would have to use a bin collection point owing to unadopted roads.

Developer Shropshire Homes won an appeal to build up to 150 homes at Loggerheads this year.

Newcastle borough councillors were asked to approve plans for Mucklestone Wood Lane, which included more than 20 house types.

More than 400 people objected to the original application.

Rob Perrins, technical director for Shropshire Homes told the planning committee the proposal will deliver a 'high quality' development, with 'generous amounts of open space'

Several councillors raised concerns about how many houses would have to use a bin collection point and asked officers for an explanation.

Councillor Andrew Fear also spoke about the number of unadopted roads on the development, given the estate uses roads that seem to loop, but said the development seemed 'acceptable' given the appeal situation.
