Dad caught drying cannabis plants jailed

- Sentinel Reporter

DAD James Hammersley supplied cannabis to a small number of users to fund his own £20-a-day habit.

But his operation was discovered when police were informed that cannabis was being dried in his flat.

He told police he had been handed the cannabis plants 12 hours earlier to dry out and he would have received some of the crop for himself. Officers also discovered the 26-year-old had offered to supply class A drugs ecstasy and LSD and class B drug ketamine. Now Hammersley, above, has been jailed for 32 months at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court.

Prosecutor Antony Longworth said he was concerned in the supply of cannabis between December 31, 2022 and June 7, 2023.

Mr Longworth said: “He would buy cannabis for himself and sell some on to no more than five people to fund his own use which was £20 worth of cannabis a day.”

But his operation was busted after his flat was visited on June 6, 2023 following a report of a water leak.
