Previous plans failed on design grounds
COOP bosses are once again seeking permission to relocate one of its stores.
Fresh plans have been submitted to Staffordshire Moorlands District Council to open a new store on Ash Bank Road in Werrington.
In May 2024, the council rejected earlier plans on design grounds.
The decision was later appealed to the planning inspector but was rejected on the same grounds in March 2025.
The Coop says the existing premises on Washerwall Lane is too small and 'no longer fit for purpose.' The new store would be less than 200 metres from the previous store and would be more centrally located in the village.
