Centenary mascot's brought to life!

TWO youngsters at a city school unveiled the mascot for Stoke-on-Trent's centenary celebrations - which they had designed.

Pupils at St Gregory's Catholic Academy in Longton won a competition organised by the city council to find the Stoke-on-Trent 100 mascot.

And Kelvin the Kiln surprised children at the school when he turned up with The Lord Mayor of Stoke-on-Trent, Councillor Lyn Sharpe.

The two winners of the competition were Zunairah Hussain, who chose the name Kelvin the Kiln, and Fizza Fatima, who designed the front of Kelvin's potter's apron. Both children are in year six.
