Brehaut rues big Leek slip

THE ecstasy of last-minute victory for Leek Town in their previous game was replaced by agony against Lancaster City on Saturday.

Josh Brehaut's side were happy to be in a position to take a point from the Northern Premier League topflight leaders at 0-0 until two minutes into stoppage time when they failed to deal with a long throw and Lancaster nabbed the points.

"We won the week before in the last minute and now we've lost," said Brehaut.

"It’s sickening really. Because they were on a very good run, nine games unbeaten, and we managed to nullify a lot of the threats that they offer.

"In the 92nd minute you get out of there with a 0-0 and it’s a good point. And we've lost the game off a long throw.

"We lost the first contact and then lost the second contact and if you lose two contacts in your box off a long throw then the chances are you are asking for trouble.”
